Marjorie J. Moran, 90, of Sumner, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 29, 2016, at the Hillcrest Home Chapel in Sumner. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at the Osage Municipal Cemetery in Osage, Iowa at 1:00 p.m. with Larry Crow officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to the Autism Society of America, 4340 East-West Hwy, Suite 350, Bethesda, Maryland 20814. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner is handling arrangements.
Marjorie Jean, daughter of Howard and Veva (Blandin) Smalley, was born, August 16, 1925, at Orchard, Iowa. She received her education in the Osage schools graduating from Osage High School in 1942. On March 25, 1945, she was united in marriage with Ernest Moran at the Congregational Church in Osage. The couple moved to Sumner in 1957. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner. She was a supporter of the River City Barbershop Chorus. Marjorie was a homemaker and also an accomplished seamstress. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed reading and doing word-search puzzles.
Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Sylvan) Mutschler of Frederika, and Beth (Curtis) Senft of Santa Maria, California; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Moran of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Marty) Smalley of Tripoli; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Flatla of Farmington, Minnesota, and Richard (Lois) Moran of Roscommon, Michigan.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ernest, who died May 4, 2003, she was preceded in death by two sons, David in infancy and Kerry; and one sister, Harriet Flatla.
